PCWA Interfaith Iftaar 2025 – Thank you

Warmest appreciation to everyone who joined us for the 2025 PCWA Interfaith Iftaar night on Friday 14th March at the Cannington Leisureplex, proudly supported by Muslim Womens Support Center (MWSC) and Healthcare Workers 4 Palestine.

The evening served to strengthen inter community bonds and learn about the significance of this time of year for members of Christian and Muslim faiths. We also came together to raise funds for the Palestinian Australian and New Zealand Medical Association’s (PANZMA) Gaza Medical Mission.

Guests heard sobering stories from Dr. Lama Al Ramahi about the life saving work of PANZMA. Palestinian Christians in Australia (PCIA) member Mr John Snobar Snr, co-founder of Christian Pilgrimages (Holy Land Tours) explained to guests the solidarity shared between Christians and Muslims and how together we would celebrate each other’s special holy seasons. We also learned of the caring work Haneen Shehadeh and the wonderful ladies at MWSC make available to our communities. We rounded out the evening with a warm and cheesy grin the size of Knaffeh by Omar.

Together, we were able to raise over $9,000 for PANZMA. We hope that this humble contribution will help the medical teams on the ground to provide vital medical support for our people in Gaza. A significant portion of those funds raised came from the generous donations of special pieces we had the privilege to auction. We saw awe inspiring glasswork from potter Ned Reilly (Palestine Collection) and gorgeous tatreez apparel from MWSC and PCWA members.

A special thank you to those who volunteered their time and energy to help make our event a warm and safe community space for everyone to share.

Ramadan Kareem and Blessed Lent to all.
